Common Errors & Issue Meter Reading Export File Gets an Error

Modified on Tue, 3 Jan, 2023 at 11:45 AM

Scenario:  During the export process of a meter reading file to an AMR (automated meter reading device) you receive an error from the AMR Software (not iGovServices).

The layout is tested during training so this is normally about specific missing data on a PIDN meter record.

Check the following items:

  • Confirm the correct AMR company is selected in your setup Settings / Organization scroll to the bottom.

  • When importing the iGovServices Reading file into your AMR software you get an error

    • The AMR software will tell you what record is causing the error.  You may need to ask your AMR company for guidance.

    • Then Edit the igov meter reading file using notepad (right-click on the reading file and choose open with Notepad).

      • Using the error message from the AMR will tell you which LINE and then what space in that line is wrong.

      • Most of the time, you are missing a piece of info.  You can ADD it manually to that file in notepad, save and rerun in the AMR software to confirm you fixed it.

      • After it is fixed you must go into iGovServices / Dashboard / Utility Meters / Assign Meters and fix the data on that PIDN meter record so that the next time you export the file works correctly.

If the above instructions do not solve your issue then contact support and the ticket will be elevated.
