How to Backdate a Payment in iGovServices

Modified on Tue, 20 Dec, 2022 at 10:17 AM

This article will walk you through the Backdate Postmark Payments process up to but not including instructions on how to take a payment. A link to that article will be at the bottom of this article.

First you will need to be logged into iGovServices

On the black navigation bar to the left

In iGovServices, navigate to:

Payments →Backdate Postmark Payments

(If you do not see this menu please contact your administrator to provide the appropriate rights)

For this example you will notice that this account has a Penalty and Interest amount on the charge line, but you want to get rid of the Penalty and Interest because they sent their payment in before the P&I were supposed to be applied. This can be corrected by using the backdate postmark payments process.

The above screen can be found by searching the for the PIDN for the desired account/view/Current Charges.

On the black bar on the left select Payments and then Backdate Postmark Payments.

Enter the Postmarked Date. Remember this date can not be in the future, it must always be for a in the past. A date before the Penalty and Interest were to go onto the accounts.

Next enter the PIDN for the account and click Submit.

You will notice in the image above that the Penalty and Interest have been removed.  Click the Approve and Apply Backdate button.  You may now immediately take the payment for this account and the line will be backdated.
