Common Errors & Issue Charge is not right

Modified on Sat, 31 Dec, 2022 at 5:08 PM

Scenario: You are creating a single or bulk charges and the charge is not calculating correctly.

This is a vague question and we suggest a more specific question but here are some common items to check.

Check the following items:

  • You may have the wrong rate in your rate schedule or a new year started so check your rate first. Click Settings / Rates / Rate Setup Schedules. Select one of your rate schedules from the drop-down and click Show Tier.  Do you see an entry for the tax year you were typing in and is the rate correct?  If the rate is correct then that will take care of your NORMAL segment on the new charge you want.

  • You may have the wrong discount, penalty, or interest setup.  Click Settings / Rates / Rate Codes.  Edit the rate code you are trying to add. Scroll down to the Discount and confirm the values are correct like the type and rate/amount (entered as negative).  Scroll to the penalty and confirm the type, rate, and the maximum is all 9999s and the frequency is correct.  Do the same for the Interest.  This will take care of the Discount, Penalty, and Interest segments of your charge.

  • If a Property Tax charge confirm the assessment value is correct and that you are applying the correct rate code for the charge. PIDN / View Assessment.

  • If you are calculating a Utility Charge make sure the usage is correct.

  • If your charge is based upon Units, make sure the units field on the PIDN is correct.

  • Make sure the dates you are entering on the charge especially the date due and past due are correct because those affect the system calculations.

If you confirmed the above troubleshooting items then a support team member will need to review the PIDN and rate code you are trying to add.
