Common Errors & Issue Add Charge Rate Code Drop Down is Empty

Modified on Sat, 31 Dec, 2022 at 5:30 PM

Scenario: You are trying to add a new single charge on a PIDN and the rate code drop-down is empty.

This scenario normally occurs after a new rate code is added, new property records are imported or you are a new iGovServices user.  It is a one-time issue and quick to solve.

Check the following items:

  • Every PIDN property table record has an Account Type Parameter ID stamped on it.  For example, we will say Real Property Tax Records all have a 1 in the Account Type Parameter ID.  When a rate code is created, you select what Revenue Type the rate code is to be used with.  That way when you ADD a NEW CHARGE, you only see the rate codes for that Revenue Type.

  • Solve the empty Rate Code drop-down by Clicking on the Menu bar Utility / Conversions / Assign Property Revenue Types.  Push the Assign Revenue Types button and let is finish.  You will get an OK box.

    • If you receive an error during that process it means that you accidentally have 2 records in your account type parameter table and one needs to be removed.  Contact support and they will delete the extra entry for you.

  • The issue could also be in your rate code not having the correct revenue type assigned.

  • Could be the wrong rate code setting on revenue type - Settings/revenue types you set up. Behind the scenes, each revenue type has an ID value assigned. On each PIDN record when creating the record you select what revenue type it is so we then stamp the revenue type ID on that property PIDN record.  Settings / Rate Codes - In your rate codes, you pick the revenue type from the drop-down so that when you ADD a CHARGE, the system will look at the PIDN you are on and see its revenue type id.  Then it looks at the rate codes and will ONLY SHOW rate codes that are set up with the same Revenue type ID-related codes (that way we don't show every single rate code).

If the above instructions do not solve your issue then contact support and the ticket will be elevated.
